RocketWorld Fundamentals - Updated

This screenshot shows me text chatting with Paul Nee. Text chat enables two avatars to talk without everyone else being able to see our conversation. I learned this skill in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows me local chatting with a group of other avatars. Local chat enables you to talk with everyone who is in your vicinity. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows me opening a web page via local chat. If you click on a link which has been posted in local chat a web page will open and direct you to that web address. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows me changing the camera position in order to look down upon my avatar. You do this by clicking on the blue arrows inside the circles located in the middle at the bottom of the RocketWorld screen. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows how I can use my avatar to look around the RocketWorld area I am located in. You can do this by clicking on the avatar's back and moving the mouse around. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows my avatar flying. You can fly by clicking the "Fly" button on the bottom left of the RocketWorld screen. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows that you can expand the size of the minimap. By clicking the side of the minimap and dragging the mouse out, you can resize the minimap to the size of your preference. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows my avatar making friends. You can invite people to be your avatar's friend by right clicking the person and then clicking the "Add As Friend" button. I learned this in RocketWorld.

This screenshot shows me offering to teleport a friend to my location. You can teleport your friends by opening the local chat and then clicking the "Friends" tab at the top and then selecting a friend from the list and clicking the "Teleport" button. I learned this in RocketWorld.

Role Call 2, Class #3

In this class, we used RocketWorld for the first time. In order to learn how to use the aspects of RocketWorld, we watched a handful of videos on youtube. We then watched videos teaching us how to build different shapes in RocketWorld. We then went into RocketWorld in order to test out all the new things we learned through the videos.

RocketWorld Modules

The Rocket World Project gave a hand full of students the opportunity to travel through space in a virtual way. Although it was all virtual reality, the students were able to converse with real astronauts during their virtual travel. The students gained a better sense of how space travel is and the future plans of NASA as a result of their interaction with the astronauts. Other students were able to experience a space simulation, exploring Mars, or building rockets.

Role Call 3, Class #2

In this class, we started by taking our first role call screenshot in the audio whiteboard. We then posted these to our blogs. After, we read about how the learning ladder would work for the rest of the semester. Once we learned about the learning ladder, we created our first learning ladder and checked each other's blogs in order to determine if we passed or failed in fulfilling our assignments due.
